About Sudak

Sudak (in the Medieval centuries called Sugdeya, Surozh, Soldaya) is located on the Black Sea coast in the South-Eastern part of the Crimea, 100km. away from Simferopol. To move about the city you may use public buses or taxi.

Staying in Sudak provides you with the opportunity to enjoy the main natural and resort features of the city surroundings that include pollution-free sea, silica sand beaches (the only ones in the Crimea) and the possibility to enjoy 138-days long swimming season (from the beginning of June up to the mid-October).

Among the famous people who have been living in Sudak were a poet and a dramatist, academician V.Kapnist; a poetess and a translator A.Gertsik; an economist N.Zeeber; the founder of the Champaign Wine Factory prince L.Golitsyn and others. The city was visited by M.Voloshin, M.Tsvetayeva, N.Berdyayev, poets S.Gorodetskiy, A.Griboyedov, A.Akhmatova, A.Beliy, writers A.Tolstoy, M.Bulgakov, A.Grin.
