Eastern Ukraine Tour 3 Following the Routes of Scyphians and Dnepro Kossacks
Kharkiv - Dnipropetrovsk - Zaporizhia
Description:
Take a 6-day tour to Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia. Kharkov, the second-largest Ukrainian city is a significant industrial and trading hub. It also the largest educational center of the country. With its mild, moderately dry climate, Kharkiv abounds in gardens, parks and tree-lined avenues. Visit a number of monuments, theaters and concert halls and enjoy walking about the wide green strteets of Kharkiv. Another fast developing industrial and business center is Dnipropetrovsk. Thouhg it is a Soviet-style city in every sense, you will also learn about its Scyphian history, and will walk around recreation areas at the Dnepro river. Zaporizhya will welcome you with its unbelievable mixture of styles. The surrounding province is densely spotted with archeological excavation sites of early and late paleolith, and over a hundred of the Bronze Age. The Scythian state, the Khazar Caganate (State), then Kyiv Prince Svyatoslav's state and Tartar-Mongols - all left their traces in history and culture of this land long before the Cossack community appeared in the down flow of Dnipro in the 15-th century. Follow the routes of historical events and relax while taking entertaining activities which are offered by all three large cities of the Ukrainian East.
Itinerary:
Day 1
Arrive to . Sign in to your hotel. After some rest, be ready for a walking excursion about the central city.
Visit the biggest square of Europe - Svobody square, walk down central street through Shevchenko's park, take a look at beautiful fountains and flowerbeds which are so typical of this city. You will visit picture galleries, museum of arts, souverirs market and see a number of beautiful monuments which commemorate various events in Kharkov's 350 years long history. Have dinner at a central city restaurant. In the evening, you will have an option of visiting organ hall, a theater or one of many night clubs.
Day 2
You will be offered to spend this day in Kharkiv. The program of this day will be active but enjoyable and informative. You will visit the WWII memorial and then walk about the central park; they you will have a choice of visiting a number of places - a big city market, to have an excursion about one of the Kharkiv plants, or to visit a university and meet students and teachers. You will have a chance to socialize with local people, to make new contacts and to develop a good vision of the city lifestyle and rhytm of life. You will also have a choice of activities to take in the evening - you can visit a theater, anconcert show, a jazz club or a night club with bowling, billiards and other entertainment places.
Day 3
Take an excursion about - one of the largest industrial, construction and research centers in Ukraine, located on Dnepro river. A Soviet-style city in every sense, Dnipropetrovsk is one of the fast developing industrial and business centers of Ukraine. Visit some of the many parks and recreation areas, including Komsomolsky Island, in the middle of the river, which has several white-sand beaches and is a perfect place for having a picnic at any time of the year. The evening program will be very exciting, too. You will have a choice of visiting numerous restaurants, night life establishments and clubs of Dnepropetrovsk.
Day 4
Explore more sites of Dnepropetrovsk this day. You will have a few options of visiting museums, galleries and open air sites in central city. You will also have some free time to walk around, do shopping and relax. Along with the repidly developing business, new shopping malls appear, hotels and restaurants are opened, and a face-lift has been given to the city center. At the same time, it still provides a fascinating window into Soviet life in the past. You will see all this with your own eyes and try the taste of everyday life of eastern Ukrainians. The evening program will be rich in options again - you will have a choice of visiting numerous restaurants, night life establishments and clubs of Dnepropetrovsk.
Day 5
Sign out from your hotel after breakfast and take a bus trip to a historical center of Kossacks culture, and a modern trade and industry center of Ukraine - . The province is densely spotted with archeological excavation sites, some of them within the city limits of Zaporizhya. There are several sites dated by the periods of early and late paleolith, and over a hundred of the Bronze Age. It is known that in 7th B.C. - 4th A.D. the Scythian state existed on the territory of the modern southern Ukraine with its capital on the Dnipro River. You can learn about multiple historical events which took place on this land since ancient times till today. Khazars, Polovtsy, Tatar-Mongols, Cossacks - all contributed to the rich history of the region. You will arrive to the city in the early afternoon and sign in to your cantral city hotel. After lunch, you can take a walking excursion about central city, then have some free time. In the evening, you may choose to visit a concert or a musical show in a concert hall or fo to a night club to listen to modern music and to relax.

Have breakfast in the hotel and have an optional excursion to In the early afternoon, you will be offered to take a bus trip to Khortitsa island on Dnepro river. This is an oper air museum of Cossack culture where you will see a cossack performance and visit museum of cossack culture. Later, you can have a dinner in a national style restaurant right on the island.
Depending on your transpoortation schedule, you will either take an evening flight to your next destination this evening, or spend this evening in Zaporizhya and sign out of the hotel in the morning, to take the trip to further destination.
