The First Contest of Beer Masters was held in Kharkov on August, 15. The idea of the contest was to identify the best master in beer pouring and serving in the city. The 1.5mln city has dozens of breweries and numerous bars and pubs where beer is served as one of the most popular treats. Enjoy this little photo-report of the event.

The First Beer Master Contest was organized and held by the city Training Center Diplomat-Service in partnership with GIZ, a German company that supervises Ukrainian Euro-2012 cities (Kiev, Kharkov, Lviv and Donetsk) in preparing service workers of hospitality industry to accept thousands of football fans which will flood Ukraine in June of 2012, on the eve of the big football event. 

The contestants - both, professionals and amateurs who are taking their first steps behind the bar stalls, competed in pouring and serving beer. The jury of the contest was headed by a guru of the business, an Austrian chef Ludwig Jax, who gave the participants a master-class in European standards of beer-serving. Each contestant obtained a certificate, and the best three participants were awarded medals of the First Beer-Master Contest in Kharkov. 

The event will be held again next summer when football fans, along with local citizens of Kharkov, will be able to evaluate professionalism of contestants with their own eyes, and to try the best types of local beer.
