Sorochintsy Fair 2007

The Sorochintsy Fair 2007 – one of the biggest open air fairs in Ukraine – will be working this year in the August, 14-19. As always it takes place at Big Sorochintsy village, in Poltava oblast. The official opening ceremony is planned for the August, 15.

The Sorochintsy Fair is a big cultural event, where you can get acquainted with national handicrafts and professions of different peoples. This time the craftspeople and manufacturers from Ukraine, Russia, Moldova, Poland, Georgia, Belarus, and Germany will represent their works and, as usual, show some master classes. The peculiarity of this Fair is that you can not only buy goods but you can watch the process of their creation and sometimes participate in it by yourself.

This year the Sorochintsy Fair will be also devoted to the 70 anniversary of Poltava oblast and 200 jubilee of Mykola Hohol’s birthday. So, besides the fair and the trade events, there will be organized a wide cultural program involving different folklore groups from all over Ukraine.

The fairground is 39,54 acres. Every year the Sorochintsy fair is visited by 1 million of people.
