Sheshory Festival


 

Ukrainian Summer is rich for the ethnic festivals, which become more fashionable and popular among Ukrainians and visitors of the country. Music Festivals give the opportunity to hear the music which you will not listen anywhere else, neither on radio or on TV. Such festivals give a chance to take a fresh breath, to try something new that one had never heard and seen before, it brings different rhythm into ine's life!

Nowadays, music Festivals are mostly held in the Western Ukraine whhich is more rural and where national sentiments are the strongest. In July, Sheshory Festival of Authentic Folk and World music was held  in Vorobyivka village, Vinnitsa oblast.  The participants from 10 countries and about 30,000 people came to the picturesque bank of the Pivdennuy Bug River, the base of Sheshory Festival.

Everybody who visited the festival, had a chance to get acquainted with Ukrainian ethnic music, learn traditions and enjoy music play from an African drums to a button accordion. Besides Ukrainian music the foreign bands were invited to play in Sheshory too. The craftsmen from all parts of Ukraine came to the Fair representing the Ukrainian traditional handicrafts. Twenty five art schools and two theatres had place there too. The noted Ukrainian story-teller Sashko Lirnyk gathered a lot of listeners around himself telling the lifelike fairy tales.

The music was heard far around the riverside and filled everyone with energy and inspiration. Ukrainian Festival in Sheshory are stayed in memory for a long time and adorned the everyday routine of everyone arrived.
