Ukraine has started its first advertising campaign on the CNN International channel. The main goal of the project is to create an attractive image of Ukraine as a tourist country on the international informational arena. In the nearest time, the video about modern Ukraine, its people, unique culture and history will be seen by more than 150 million families all over the world. For this purpose there was created a 30-second clip showing different tourist gems of Ukraine. The ads demonstrate aerial and swooping crane shots of the medieval Monastery of the Caves in Kyiv, the Opera Theatre in Odessa, remains of the ancient Chersonesos Greek city, Lviv’s market square, windmills, castles and the picturesque Carpathian Mountains. As the press secretary of the State Tourism and Resorts Service Ludwig Medyaniy said, “The world should know that Ukraine is more than borsch and potato dumplings. We have something to show.”

According to the Ukrainian State Border Service statistics, the number of foreign tourists who visited Ukraine between January and September 2008 exceeded 20 million – an increase of 2.3 million people, or 12.5 percent over the same period in 2007. The Ukrainian campaign on CNN will last for 7 weeks, during this period of time the clip about Ukraine will be shown 300 times.
